Tips for Turf and Landscape Pesticide Applicators Jun 03, 2008
1. Be sure you are properly licensed. Anyone who applies a pesticide in Ohio must be licensed or work under direct supervision of a licensed applicator. Even using weed and feed products or spot treating with glyphosate require a license.2. Inspect pesticide application equipment regularly to insure that it is functioning properly and that it is not leaking. 3. Use side shields to keep granular pesticides and fertilizers off of non-turf areas such as sidewalks, driveways, streets and curbs. Ohio law requires you to remove any excess from these areas with brooms and blowers. 4. Provide your employees with working Personal Protective Equipment and make sure they wear it! Riding on application equipment does not lessen the PPE requirements unless specifically stated on the label.
5. Keep your facilities in good order: 6. Keep accurate records of all pesticide applications including spot treatments.
