 Karl Danneberger, a professor in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science, was selected as a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Senior Specialist in Agriculture award.  During Karl's grant period, he was at the University of Tras-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) in Portugal (see TurfNote posting "Postcards from Portugal").

"Needless to say it is quite an honor and privilege to receive a grant award from the Fulbright Senior Specialists Program," said Danneberger.  "To be able to work with a collegue Dr. Nuno Moreira at UTAD on enhancing the turfgrass program is exciting." 

The Senior Specialists program is designed to provide opportunities for collaboration between U.S. and non-U.S. faculty and professional counterparts at post-secondary academic institutions. 

Grant award recipients are matched by discipline with project requests submitted from abroad through Fulbright Commissions and U.S. Embassies.  Fulbright Senior Specialists are chosen through a rigorous peer review process conducted by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) - a division of the Institute of International Education.  Final approval of candidates is granted by the J.
