The turfgrass science industry is typically a male industry. The job usually involves spending time outdoors in inclement weather and using heavy equipment, which may deter some women from choosing it as a career.  It is not unusual to see just a handful of woman at a turf conference of several hundred people.

At Ohio State we have always had a strong contingent of women in the turfgrass science program and this year is no exception.
