Turfgrass Student Helps Host President Gee in Poland PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 06 July 2009
Studzinska and GeePresident Gordon Gee of The Ohio State University is visiting Buckeyes across the state of Ohio, the United States and overseas. One of his stops was Warsaw, Poland where he visited the OSU Summer School in Social Sciences. On Monday, June 22 I had the opportunity to attend a dinner with the President, alumni and fellow Buckeyes hosted at Bristol Hotel in Warsaw, Poland. Over dinner President Gee, whose ambition is to expand the OSU Study Abroad program, showed a genuine interest in our international initiatives. As a previous participant of The Ohio State University International Exchange Program and current OSU graduate student,  I was asked to share my story and personal experience.  President Gee was excited to learn more about the International Program,  and recognized the Horticulture and Crop Science department as one of the best in the United States. The polish-style evening was also a great occasion to acquaint Dr. Gee and his guests with polish tradition and customs, which was of a great importance personally to me. Overall it was a memorable meeting and I could not imagine better circumstances to meet with President Gee for the first time in my home country.

Note: Aneta Studzinska is currently a Ph.D. student in Turfgrass Science at The Ohio State University and holds the James B and Harriet Beard Graduate Fellowship in Turfgrass Physiology and Biochemistry
