Last week, the turfgrass science team hosted two field days at The Ohio Turfgrass Foundation Research & Education Facility in Columbus, OH.

* On Wednesday 12th, 300 turfgrass professionals came to look at the research being carried out on golf and sports and lawn turf.

* On Thursday 13th, 200 lawn care professionals came to their annual Ohio Lawn Care Association summer field day.

At a time when a lot of turfgrass professionals are seeing their development budgets cut, it is great to see so much support for the turfgrass science program at Ohio State. Faculty, staff and graduate students talked about their research findings and showed results. It was an opportunity for turf managers to see what products work best, which turf cultivars are performing in Ohio and what some of the latest turf innovations are. It was also an opportunity to see industry friends and to talk about issues pertaining to the turfgrass industry in Ohio.  These two events are highly valued by both the industry and the turfgrass science team at Ohio State.
