Online Sports Turf Certificate Awarded CSFM Points PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 22 October 2009
The Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) just awarded The Ohio State University online Sports Turf Certificate Program points towards both CSFM status and CEUs.
The STMA has a "Certified Sports Turf Manager" (CSFM) program that recognizes industry professionals in sports turf that have attained a certain level of expertise and professionalism. There are currently 100 CSFMs in the United States, with two in the state of Ohio.  In order to take the CSFM exam and get CSFM status, in individual must accrue 40 points. Those points come from a combination of education and experience. For example, an associate degree in turf is worth 8 points and a sports turf crew member earns 1 point per year of work. Once 40 points have been accrued the CSFM written exam is taken, and if the exam is passed, CSFM status is awarded.
CSFMs are required to get re-certified on a 3-year cycle. They do so by earning 3 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and 9 Industry Service Points (ISPs) over the three year period.
Industry professionals and students that have taken, or are taking, the Online Sports Turf Certificate Program at Ohio State can currently get the following: 1 CSFM Point towards the exam, and 1.5 CEUs
