Sports Turf Certificate The Sports Turf Certificate class will be offered to local turf managers this spring. The 10-WEEK CLASS is offered as a NIGHT CLASS so that local turf managers that would like to attend a class at the university can do so out of regular work time.

The class will cover all technical aspects of sports turf management: soils, agronomy, nutrition, water management, renovation/construction and methods of field presentation. The class is broken down into lectures and practical labs. Faculty & staff that will teach the course include: Dr Karl Danneberger, Dr. John Street, Dr. Dave Gardner, "Bug Doc" Dr. Dave Shetlar, Dr. Mike Boehm, Joe Rimelspach, John Mott, and Pam Sherratt.

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course is designed to provide students with an overview of the construction and agronomic management of athletic fields including baseball, football, soccer & lacrosse. The course will provide students with the necessary background to develop management programs for middle school to professional athletic fields. Students will become familiar with all aspects of athletic field management.

SCHEDULE: The class starts Tuesday March 27th and ends Tuesday 5th June. Lectures are Tuesdays & Thursdays 6pm - 8pm.

ROOM: OTF Research & Education Facility, North Star Rd., Columbus, OH 43210. Parking passes are not required.

EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS: All educational materials (books etc.) are given to the students.

COST: $400.00. Ohio State Continuing Education Units (CEUs)are offered. This course is worth 1.6 Ohio State CEUs. To register, call (614) 292-8571
