image1 The Ohio State University Sports Field Management Certificate Program was developed to challenge and test individuals of all ages interested in advancing their knowledge in sports field management.

Introductory in nature, the program consists of 5 certificates:

 

1. Soils & Sands, Drainage, Irrigation & Sports Field Renovation Options
2. Cool & Warm Season Grasses
3. Sports Field Presentation, Mowing & Nutrition
4. IPM, Pests, Diseases & Weeds
5. Synthetic Turf History, Characteristics, Construction & Maintenance

The subject area is broad enough to be applicable to turf conditions globally. The on-line lectures were developed by leading turfgrasses researchers and educators at The Ohio State University specifically for sports field management.

Regardless of location, the program was created for individuals to work at their own pace and at a time most suited for them. Course presentations, references, faculty interaction, and testing are completed on-line. The only requirement is that the course be completed within a 1-year period.

**Members refers to membership in The Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA), The Ohio Sports Turf Managers Association (OSTMA), The Ohio Turfgrass Foundation (OTF), The Ohio Lawn Care Association(OLCA) and/or The Ohio Parks & Rec. Association (OPRA).

Successful completion of the course requires a grade of 70 percent or greater. Those earning a grade of 94 percent or higher will receive a certificate with distinction.
