In response to the recent anthracnose posting, I heard from a couple of superintendents in New York who have been battling anthracnose on old poa annua/bentgrass greens. Listed below are some of the changes made in their mowing practices in anticipation of this disease (they have had minimal anthracnose pressure so far). These suggested practices are in addition to those mentioned in the previous anthracnose posting.
* raised the mowing height slightly (approximately 4-6 weeks ago)
* backed off double cutting of greens and rolling to single cutting and rolling twice a week during the current weather conditions
* cleanup patterns are mowed everyother day with solid rollers replacing grooved
