Dr. Karl Danneberger is Professor of Turfgrass Science at The Ohio State University. His research interests are in the area of turfgrass physiology and ecology. Teaching responsibilities include advising undergraduate turfgrass science majors and teaches HCS 270 Historical Perspectives on Golf Course Design and Management and HCS 570 Turfgrass Science and Management.
Dr. David Shetlar is the Turfgrass Extension Entomologist Specialist and Associate Professor in the Department of Entomology. Dr. Shetlar, also known as the “BugDoc”, teaches ENTOMOL 462, “Turf and Ornamental Insect Pests” during Autumn Quarter. His research looks at the biology and control measures for major turfgrass insect pests.
Pam Sherratt is an Extension Specialist at The Ohio State University in SportsTurf Management. She received her B.Sc degree at Myerscough College in Preston, England and her M.S. degree at The Ohio State University. Besides her extension activities, which include maintaining the OSU Sportsturf web site, she teaches a course HCS 294, “Sportsturf Management” during Spring Quarter.

Dr. David Gardner is an Associate Professor of Turfgrass Science at The Ohio State University. His research interests are in the area of turfgrass stress physiology primarily shade, weed control, and pesticide fate. Teaching responsibilities include advising undergraduate turfgrass science majors, serves as the faculty advisor for the Turfgrass Scienc Club, and teaches HCS 470 Introduction to Turfgrass Management, HCS 234 Ornamental Plant Identification, HCS 488 Practical Turfgrass Management, and HCS 260 Introduction to Statistics.
Aneta Studzinska is a visiting research assistant (2006) at The Ohio State University. She graduated from the Department of Agriculture at The Agricultural University of Wroclaw with a B.S. degree in Landscape Planning and M.S. degree in Agriculture. Her M.S. thesis evaluated turfgrass quality and playability of soccer fields in Poland. In 2005 she was an international turfgrass student intern (OSU Intern Program) at The Broadmoor G.C. in Colorado.
Marcela Munoz is a visiting research assistant (2006) at The Ohio State University. She will graduate from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica De Chile in Santiago, Chile upon completion of her thesis (agronomy), which she is doing in part her at OSU under the guidance of Pam Sherratt. Marcela has worked on both golf courses and a horse racing club. She also plays for the university national woman’s soccer team.
Jia Yan is a doctoral candidate (Turfgrass Science) at The Ohio State University. Jia recevied her B.S. and M.S. in the Department of Biological Sciences and Technologies, Nanjing University, China. Her M.S. research was in the grassland ecology. Jia’s Ph.D dissertation involves inserting shade tolerant genes into creeping bentgrass and evaluating their effectiveness.
Aline de Costa Fae is from Rio Grande do Sul, the very most southern state of Brazil. She is currently working at the International Intern Program at the Ohio State University, as a program assistant. “Meu nome e Aline da Costa Fae. Sou do Rio Grande do Sul, o estado mais ao sul do Brasil. Atualmente trabalho para o International Intern Program na Ohio State University como assistente internacional.”
My name is Alejandra Acuña. I am agronomist from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile with a major in Crop Science. I am a graduate student in the OSU Department of Horticulture and Crop Science I have been working in weed control in ornamental and working with the labor force in the nursery industry, we are trying to characterize the labor force in nine states of the U.S. and implement bilingual (Spanish-English) technical courses for the nursery workers in Ohio.My recreation relation with turf science: I am a runner.

A Professor of Horticultural Interactive Communications at Ohio State since 1995, Dr. Tim Rhodus is the webmaster of the highly successful online resource Horticulture and Crop Science In Virtual Perspective and leads the HCS Digital Technology Team. His research interests are in developing and managing online educational resources. Dr. Rhodus also teaches HCS 560 Computers in Horticulture.
Victor van Buchem is Communications Coordinator for the Horticulture & Crop Science Department and a member of the HCS Digital Technology Team. He is writer, editor and photographer for the Ohio State HCS News and serves as host of the News podcast. His works also includes website content management, audio and video production and multimedia development.
A member of the HCS Digital Technology Team, Bud Witney specializes in computer programming, database development and server management. He maintains the Horticulture & Crop Science In Virtual Perspective website and all of its dynamic resources.
